CERT March 2021 UPDATE

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

A big THANKS to those in the greater Bodega Bay community who attended the virtual CERT quarterly program, "Covid at the Coast" on February 8th, hosted by Dr. George Flores, the new President of Bodega Bay CERT. In case you missed it, or want to see it again, click the following link:

Supervisor Linda Hopkins, Dr. Sundari Mase, and public health staff presented updates on the COVID-19 impact in Sonoma County, with a focus on Bodega Bay and on vaccine issues. Patty Ginocchio talked about Waves of Compassion’s assistance to local residents affected by COVID. Steve Herzberg spoke about first responders’ encounters with COVID. Dr. Flores gave pointers for communicating about masks, distancing, and vaccines.

While it would be ideal for COVID-19 vaccines to be available in Bodega Bay, the current distribution challenges make that a remote possibility in the short term. So, if you are offered the opportunity to get vaccinated, take it.

For vaccine eligibility requirements, see:

At this time, West County Health Centers is providing COVID vaccination on referral only in Guerneville and Sebastopol. Vaccine-eligible Bodega Bay residents, and workers in occupations that qualify for the vaccine (including food handlers and agricultural workers) may be referred by Dr. Flores. To request a referral, email: Dr. George Flores at: George.flores@comacast.net

CERT needs YOU!

Your neighborhood and CERT need you to be a neighborhood Emergency Shed Team member. No special skills are needed to begin, just a desire to help in case of an event or serious emergency. Do you enjoy assisting with meetings, or possess a talent to take notes? Bodega Bay CERT is looking for that special someone who is willing to become our Secretary and join the Bodega Bay CERT Board of Directors. For more information about both of these opportunities, contact Beth Bruzzone, via email info@bodegabaycert.org

"I didn't hear it, I didn't see it, it must not be true." Sadly, this age old adage does not apply to the families and residents of our wonderful community that need a helping hand. Many of the food insecure and financially challenged are hidden from the view of our daily lives. We are grateful to have Waves of Compassion, a 501(c)3 dedicated to helping those that need it, not fall through the cracks.

One last thing..........

Every day, we are in awe of our local First Responders. Where would we be without them? Our gratefulness, our positive thoughts cannot be conveyed enough to Bodega Bay Fire Protection District, our Sheriffs, CHP, and Park Rangers.

Just a reminder, Bodega Bay CERT is a strictly volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. Donations are appreciated. Thank You!
